Don’t let the title fool you. As a semi-proud owner of a Nintendo Wii, I know that motion controlled games can be successful. Wii Sports is one of the funnest pick up and play videogames of this generation, and the innovation of motion detection in Metroid Prime 3 made first person shooters play so much better than the typical two joystick setup. During a speech at GDC, Final Fantasy XIII director Motomu Toriyama commented on the newest trend in the Final Fantasy, multiple games taking place in the same universe. He compares Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII to the other Final Fantasy spin-offs: Final Fantasy X-2 and Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII. By continuing this trend the hope to expand the games universe and bolster its mythology in order to gain a more fanatical audience that not only loves the gameplay, but the world it lives in.
