I didn’t really expect this but, rock band Bon Jovi is promoting the Square Enix title, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers (boy, what a mouthful) for the Nintendo Wii.

In the commercial, Bon Jovi’s song We Weren’t Born to Follow from their just-released album, The Circle, is featured.

So what do you think? Should Square Enix have stuck with JPop songs or is this a great choice? Rate it on scale from 1 - 10.

The Circle actually debuted at the number-one position on the Japanese Oricon weekly album charts.

FFCC: Crystal Bearers was released in Japan on November 12, 2009. The North American release will be a day after Christmas on December 26, 2009.

^ Yes, real emotion. 1000 words was good, but real emotion I guess I liked the Japanese version better.

That’s cause he hasn’t done any big installments until FFIX, thats when his big chance shined through.

^ Which Sweetbox song? 1000 Words or Real Emotion? I’m assuming Real Emotion. I didn’t like that song either. Or rather I didn’t like it as a song as part of the Final Fantasy series. But still, the song does seem to go well with that particular FF game, since FFX-2 was suppose to be an upbeat, happy ending kind of game.

What I’m saying is, Bon Jovi and Sweetbox’s songs may not seem Final Fantasy material, but for those specific games, they were.

But I’m still not liking Leona Lewis’s song as the FFXIII theme. Unlike FFCC: The Crystal Bearers and FFX-2, FFXIII is a direct installment in the Final Fantasy series. So its theme song REALLY matters. And currently I don’t think Leona’s song will do FFXIII justice. But I’ll give my final judgment when I play the game.

Whew, that was a lot. Hope I didn’t confuse you.

The only game I’ve played from the director is FFIX. It’s not enough to tell if I’m a fan of his (though I did like the art of FFIX). We’ll see once I play FFCC: The Crystal Bearers.

^ The Sweetbox song from FFX-2 didn’t capture the feeling of Final Fantsay to me, well maybe because the entire game did not.

I want to play this game though, the artist is now director (from FF9) who worked on this.

^ I almost feel the same way. When you hear Bon Jovi and Final Fantasy together, it doesn’t really mix. But I think with this particular game it might. I haven’t played the game yet, but from what I’ve read, Bon Jovi’s song seems to fit the modern feeling of this game.

This reminds me of Leona Lewis’s song “My Hands” as the theme song for Final Fantasy XIII. It doesn’t seem right. And I’m not a huge fan of the song. But who knows, it might grow on me over time, maybe when I play the game. And I still have yet to hear an orchestra version, if there is one.

I Like Bon Jovi, and FF, but together doesn’t seem right =/

Its like making a bacon and jelly sandwich you know? The bacon doesn’t do well to replace bread.

Anyways, I like Toshiyuki Itahana (director) who was the artist on FF9, he kept on pushing and became a director at Square, so his art, design and direction are the major influence. It really depends though, since FF9 had the “SOUL” of Sakaguchi as the head writer… I don’t know if Sakaguchi would of approved of this Bon Jovi.

I know an FF game by simply closing my eyes, and I’m taken to a new world, without the beautiful art. I can’t do that with Bon Jovi.
