I don’t plan to read this novel anytime soon unless enough people convince me(which I assure you is a lot more than you can get), but I’m assuming since you’re on a Vampire site you’ve heard of Twilight. Possibly the biggest franchise out in the market right now, facts show that Twilight has been a huge success. This popular story has dominated in both its novel and movie forms. With over 91 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and over 17 million copies sold, the movie was only a mimic to the success of the novel, winning 19 awards(ranging from MTV movie awards to Teen Choice awards) and grossing almost $70 million in its first week of release.
But even with all this success on different types of media, why haven’t we heard of a Twilight game? Well the answer is, we have, but probably not to the extent that most of you would prefer a Twilight game in. The popular trivia series Scene It is releasing a Twilight edition on November 24, 2009, but for some reason is only going to be on the Wii and DS(coming later) platform. With such a huge audience, I would have thought Konami would try and release on more platforms than just the Nintendo side. But then again, the general audience of Twilight are teenage girls, who to me aren’t generally the ones that go around shooting and blowing things up in games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
But even though the Twilight movie has been out since November last year, and movie-video games crossovers are usually quick to come, why doesn’t Twilight have its own action style RPG or similar game? Is a trivia game the best Twilight thinks it can do on the video game market(I don’t honestly find trivia type games all too exciting)? I personally think Twilight could do well as any other cliche movie-video game adaptation), where you play the main character and go through the story type deal(and that’s saying a lot coming from me, because I’m not a big fan of movie-video game adaptations), but what do you think? What kind of game would you like to see Twilight as? What if Twilight was a video game?

Nice post, Jeff. I haven’t seen Twilight actually, since I’m avoiding it XD.
But I know movies converted to games are all about time constraint, so its normally a unfinished product. EA games reps actually admitted that to me, they need more time but the game was due when the movie is out. Games take longer than movies to create.
That being said, how about a 3D exploration game that you have u have to sold puzzles, gather clues to get to the next part of the game? Choices affect outcome. I don’t see Bella or Eddie boy as a straight hack n slash fighter.
Great read Jeffrey! I don’t think I’ve ever read of anyone addressing the issue of Twilight being a video game!
I am praying to my imaginary god to not let Twilight become the next harry potter in my life. I swore off that series and made fun of it for the first 3 books, then by accident picked one up and started reading. I then fell in love.
but i doubt that this will happen. everyone knows Wizards>Vampires. ALWAYS
dude. have you seen Twilight? the vampires are not vampires. they are glittering… ugh. don’t even get me started. don’t get me wrong, I thought the movie in itself was okay, but calling them vampires? I’d rather see a mmorpg or whatever with “regular” vampires.
