This week Nintendo released several different new Wiiware games, and among them was another addition to the Poke’mon franchise. Titled Poke’mon Rumble, this small yet intricate game is sold for 1500 Wii points($15.00 USD). Possibly one of the first Poke’mon games that does not have a turn based battle system, Poke’mon Rumble has the image of an action type game, in which the player controls a “toy” Poke’mon, and goes and fights other Poke’mon in various modes. As you defeat Poke’mon, you can even befriend them, and trade Poke’mon with other people.

Although I haven’t played it yet, for some reason I think this was an excuse for a Poke’mon dubbed item to gain quick money. The trailer makes the game look like a lot of fun, but I don’t think this is something I would put highly on my buy list. For huge Poke’mon fans however, I’m sure they are delighted. But honestly, why can’t Nintendo work on a Poke’mon Super Smash Bros game or like a legit ORPG. I would totally pay 15$ a month for a Poke’mon MMO. With HeartGold and SoulSilver games coming out in the future (seems like a Fire Red and Leaf Green type deal), I just wish Poke’mon would instead keep working on newer games (take however long you need, I’ll wait), but put more thought into them. I still believe that the original 150 are the best. I mean really now, is the best you can do is evolve old Poke’mon?

^ Evolved Rhydon into Rhyperior? meh…

Check out the trailer here:

What do you think? Is Poke’mon Rumble another excuse for some quick money? Or is it legit? If you’ve played it, I’d be happy to hear what you think of it!

I totally agree with you

Too many Pokemon games! I want the good old-fashioned games..
Maybe it’s just another money-making scheme since it’s only on Wiiware. It’s even more expensive than FFVII at the PlayStation Store.
