Remember how the Australian Board pretty much likes to ban any game that is too adult like or violent from sales? Well, Aliens vs. Predator just narrowly escaped that tragic fate. This is a great thing to hear for the Australian Gamers, and I hope future games don’t get kicked out either! The Australian Classification Review Board decided to revoke its earlier decision to ban the game, and it has now received a rating of MA15+ with no modifications to be made to the game.

The reason for the original decision of ban? Apparently the entire game.

“The game contains first-person perspective, close-up depictions of human characters being subjected to various types of violence, including explicit decapitation and dismemberment, as well as locational damage, such as stabbing through the chest, mouth, throat, or eyes.”

I mean I guess that is nasty, but violence in video games seems to be very marketable these days(not sure why, but Call of Duty and other games of such that involve fighting have been very successful). I can only imagine the relief that Australian Gamers and Sega have after winning the appeal.

Alien vs. Predator is set to release on February 16, 2010.
