This game was totally not meant to be played on the PC. I’m sorry for all you people out there that might have some form of crazy macros or add-ons or something that make it easier for you, but as a newbie to Final Fantasy XI, I can tell you, this game was not meant for the PC. Originally releasing for consoles(FFXI is still available on Xbox 360), I think this game would be much more fun if played there. The entire control system is not based off of pressing 1-9 for using skills, but rather like in Final Fantasy games, with a menu and submenus with skills. Clicking and using the Enter key has proven to be a real pain when in combat. Clicking especially. It is hard to select mobs/npcs with the mouse function, and often times using the Tab key is so much easier.

But that aside, I am playing a Hume Monk on the Seraph server named Beastius, and my friend is playing a TaruTaru Red Mage. After fighting a few monsters and completing a few quests, I can say that the game is quite entertaining, especially for people who are in love with the Final Fantasy Series. FFXI screams Final Fantasy (which is a good thing), and makes you feel like you really are playing a Final Fantasy type game, but in an MMO environment. Though I’m extremely mad, because I want a Chocobo mount!!…stupid rich high level people running around on their Chocobos…just wait! I’ll spam my netherdrake from World of Warcraft against your tiny yellow bird!! Then we’ll see who is making the chicken for News Year Party!

There’s an option to use an Xbox 360 controller on the PC. I see my brother use it when he plays his PC games. Would that solve the whole controlling system problem on the PC?
