2010 is going to be a year of sequels. We’ve gotten a jump start for this with Assassin’s Creed 2 and Modern Warfare 2, and the list will only take off from there. Next year promises us another Final Fantasy game, another Castlevania game, another Bioshock game and so many more. But there are plenty of games set for release in 2010 that do not have any numbers after their names.

Here are 12 brand new games to celebrate a brand new decade.

Darksiders

Release date (In the US… and this goes for all the following dates): January 5, 2010
Platforms: PS3, Xbox
Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VMxP_GstP8

Can’t get enough
of your apocalyptic, epic, God-defying games? Play as War, one of the
horsemen of the apocalypse… trying to figure out why the apocalypse
happened before it was supposed to. “Wait guys, I wasn’t ready!”

Bayonetta

Release date: January 5, 2010
Platforms: PS3, Xbox 360
Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsAJ0EaTi4E

Bayonetta is
sure to be similar to God of War, except it will have a lot more boobs
and make a lot less sense. But I’m not complaining.

MAG

Release date: January 26, 2010
Platforms: PS3
Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48RMUK9aXl4

MAG
is an epic war game is predicted to dwarf others in its genre by its
sheer massiveness. A complex upgrade and hierarchy system point to this
shooter being a big success.

Dante’s Inferno

Release date: February 9, 2010
Platforms: PS3, PSP, Xbox 360
Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdBE8UIz1BA

Dante’s Inferno is
supposed to be extremely controversial, full of heresy and criticism,
and overall badass. Perfect way to start a new decade.

Heavy Rain

Release date: February 16, 2010
Platforms: PS3
Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKPPdgBK3r8

This mystery drama is
an intriguing new game, both for its complex story, and for its
gameplay. Heavy Rain will have players make moral decisions and using
their brains - something we are not all accustomed to doing.

Alan Wake

Release date: May 2010
Platforms: Xbox 360
Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-xaiMaru64

Coming from the
same makers as Max Payne, Alan Wake is the story of a bestselling
author stuck in a thriller he can’t remember writing. The idea almost
makes me want to get a 360 (almost).

Nier

Release date: Spring 2010
Platforms: Nier Replicant for PS3, Nier Gestalt for Xbox 360
Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCbzHktwTaQ

Never heard of this game? It’s not a surprise. Not much is known about it except that it’s by Square Enix and is not a Final Fantasy game… and really isn’t that all we need to know? To make things better, two different versions (with different storylines) will be released for the PS3 and Xbox 360. Both system fans rejoice!

Epic Mickey

Release date: September 16, 2010
Platforms: Wii
Trailer: None yet (?)

Because there should
be at least one Wii game on here… All right, fine! And because I
really want this game! Mickey Mouse as a darker character hated by all
the has-beens of Disney… can you blame me?

Brink

Release date: Fall 2010
Platforms: PS3, Xbox 360, Windows
Trailer: (Teaser) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybj0PaAiQm0&feature=fvw

Brink is a first person shooter set in a world that’s been pushed to the brink (hint hint) of a Civil War. It will feature the SMART system, a way of moving similar to Mirror’s Edge. I’m in.

Resonance of Fate

Release date: 2010
Platforms: PS3, Xbox 360
Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d326pL1MM-s

An amazing looking RPG with an intriguing story that isn’t Final Fantasy? That’s right. Resonance of Fate is a promising game revolving around a poisoned world and malfunctioning technology… not like any world we know of, surely.

Singularity

Release date: 2010
Platforms: PS3, Xbox360, Windows
Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Le7DvxPY_MY

Ever wish you could go back in time? Singularity will take you there - this game is set in 2010, and in 1950… at the same time.

The Last Guardian

Release date: 2010
Platforms: PS3
Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHzHoMT5eRg&feature=related

Jordan says: “I think
it would be cool to mention The Last Guardian, which is a sequel to Shadow of the Colossus, but is going to be so fucking awesome that really, it doesn’t matter and should be worth mentioning regardless.” (I’ll admit it, I had the urge to include this game, and Jordan gave me an excuse).

^ Ah I see. Thanks for the list. I didn’t know a few of them.

^Heh yeah so did I. And then I realized I had so many games I wanted to talk about. So I chose the ones I knew less about. And tried not to make it too ps3 centered. I wanted to include Enslaved too xD

Excited for Resonance of Fate. I thought White Knight Chronicles would be here.

Lots of games that I’ve never heard of and they look promising :)
