Ok class, settle down! We are at the fresh start of 2010, a brand new year! And this means new video games. Yes, that’s right, I know you all go home and stay up all night playing games when you should be doing your work (or sleeping, like some people like to do at night. Crazy, I know!) So I intend to make this a learning experience (oh groan all you want!). In honor of all these new games, let’s learn some new vocabulary!

Pay attention, you will be quizzed on this later. (Note: All definitions are from Dictionary.com).

Game: Bayonetta

Word: Hirsute - Covered with hair; hairy.
Sentence: Bayonetta is so hirsute, even her clothes are made of her hair. (Shaving must be horrible…)

Game: Army of Two: the 40th Day
Word:
Camaraderie - Goodwill and lighthearted rapport between or among friends.
Sentence:
Punching your partner in Army of Two: the 40th Day is not a good way of strengthening your characters’ camaraderie. (In fact, it takes camaraderie points away. Why are you punching your buddy anyway?)

Game: Bioshock 2
Word: Inundate - to flood; cover or overspread with water.
Sentence: Since Rapture is submerged in water, there is always the chance that it will be inundated if any of the walls crack. (The game will also have you inundated with enemies, since your new Big Daddy getup makes you bigger, badder, stronger… and that’s just no fun unless there’s a challenge).

Game: Dante’s Inferno
Word:Immolate - to destroy by fire.
Sentence: Dante is so badass he can go to Hell and not get immolated. (Not that he needs to prove his badassery after he steals Death’s scythe).

Game: Singularity
Word: Ubiquitous - existing or being everywhere, esp. at the same time
Sentence: The main character of Singularity will appear ubiquitous because of his skill of existing both in the year 2010 and 1950. (Hopefully not literally at the same time, my mind can’t quite wrap around that concept).

Game: Silent Hill: Shattered Memories
Word: Pusillanimous - lacking courage or resolution; cowardly.
Sentence: Harry Mason is depicted as being pusillanimous in the remake of the original Silent Hill, since the entire game consists of his running away from enemies. (Silly Wii).

Game: Heavy Rain
Word: Casuist - a person who studies and resolves moral problems of judgment or conduct arising in specific situations.
Sentence: Heavy Rain has you play a casuist, often asking you to make difficult decisions. (And often very quickly).

Really? :D I wasn’t sure if people would like it. Maybe I will! It was fun.
