Quite a while ago, I remember reading a story about a “Gears Of War” film adaptation. I’m not going to complain about that, because how can you go wrong when the entire premise of the game is “scream scream scream, chainsaw to face, scream, punch, curbstomp”?

You can’t.

Dually noted however, that there is a World Of Warcraft film in the works, with the story being told from the side of the Alliance, I’m interested to see how an MMO pans out into a coherent story; I hope it’s not just instances with no real plot.

Here’s the one thing directors need to understand before they can create a truly successful Video Game to Film adaptation, it’s the simple idea that they don’t need to change anything!
We love the character the way that it is, don’t fuddle the story just to make something interesting or action packed. Odds are if you just build off the story set in the games, or retell the story and stay true to it, you’ll get yourself a blockbuster.

I don’t even want to bring up those bastard movies that have been more than horrible, they’ve been insulting (cough BloodRayne). Get it together fellas, and do a stellar job on the above listed films, and maybe we’ll get used to the idea of Video Game movies again.

Shhh don’t say MMOs don’t have a plot. You might offend Jeff. :P WoW has lore and a “story” so if they do this right… it would be an awesome movie. BUT. We all know that video game movies SUCK. So.
