Bayonetta or Darksiders? MAG or Mass Effect 2? Dante’s Inferno or Bioshock 2? These are the impossible decisions gamers face on a daily basis. Multiple great games being released on the same date breaks our collective heart, yet publishers continue to match up 2 great titles week after week. My question for you is how do you decide?

At least one week out of every month pits 2 great games against each other on the same release date. More times than not, both games get comparative reviews and aim towards the same audience. This leaves little reason to chose one title over another, both titles would be good picks. If you find yourself stuck in a similar situation, here’s a few deciding factors that may help push you one way or another.

Multiplayer
Competitive online play, co-op missions, time trials, planned DLC or anything else that will extend the life of a game. Obviously you want the most bang for your buck, so to help accomplish this try to figure out which title will suck the most time out of your life.

Style
Sure Bayonetta and Darksiders are both hack-n-slash beat-em-ups, but both have their own distinct artistic style to them. Bayonetta is more over the top action with lots of flare, where Darksiders carries a more gloomy hell-bound vibe. Similar in gameplay doesn’t always mean you’re going to get the same thing out of both games. Try to choose a style that fits your personality.

Story
The storyline a video game follows is equally important as the style in which the story is told. I assure you that Dante’s Infero tells a completely different tale than the one found at the bottom of the abyss in Bioshock 2. One story may be filled with more action and sorrow, while the other is more mysterious and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Depending on which experience your in the mood for you should pick accordingly.

These are just a few points to look over the next time you have to choose between to equally satisfying games. If you have any tips of your own, share your thoughts!

Mass effect 2 and Bioshock 2 FTW

Don’t forget pre-order bonuses. The extras would matter if you had to decide.
