The 256 player MAG offers combat on a large scale. Players start off as lowly infantry soldiers, but can climb through the ranks to become squad leaders, captains, and commanders. The higher the title, the more control over the ways of the war are under your control. Having the power to rule over squads, companies, and platoons can turn the tide of a battle if implemented correctly. The total control MAG offers is its selling point. Playing “god” or General in this case has worked in various Sim titles over the year, but will it be enough to get PS3 owners to stop playing Modern Warfare 2?

Sure 256 players all competing against each other in epic encounters sounds great, but will the PS3 have enough gamers to keep those ranks filled? I’m not entirely confident that it will. It’s only been 10 weeks since Modern Warfare 2 was unleashed on the world and we’re still feeling the effects of its massive sales figures. MW2 is still in the news, it’s still at the top of every message board, and most importantly it’s still in gamers’ consoles.

MAG offers some fresh new additions to the FPS genre through its leadership positions and amount of players engaged at once, but I fear that its following MW2 a little too closely. A mistake that may leave many gamers sitting alone in empty lobbies across the world.

Don’t think it will topple MW2 sales but MAG is a GOOD game!

Yeah, due to the fact that MW2 being a multiplatform , Mag wont be able to surpass MW2 sales.

Bill, you’re on. Maybe this should be the new blogger feud debate. *Runs off to write a response post on this*
