We’ve already seen a number of “Facebook games” out there: most of them either involve farming, growing stuff, or finding a way to relentlessly spam your buddy’s wall. However, this one could be a little different: Reno-based 3G Studios has announced that they will be bringing a first-person shooter to the social media platform.

The game, entitled Brave Arms, is being billed as a fully interactive FPS where you can take part in a gaming experience solely within the confines of the social networking site. James Costa, the CEO for 3G Studios, had this to say in a statement:

“Our new title, Brave Arms, will bring First-Person Shooter games to the masses…It’s about fast-paced action and either competing against or forming teams with your friends. We want people to feel empowered and to share in a real video game experience.”

The idea in itself sounds promising: Facebook already has a membership base, and it gives people easy access to do whatever they want. However, is this “real video game experience” one similar to Goldeneye or a Flash game your buddy tried to make in his basement? 3G Studios gets kudos for working on the original Rock Band, but their previous work (including the Jillian Michaels game for Wii) has absolutely nothing to do with the shooting genre.

Nevertheless, the concept art looks nice and I’m a big enough fan of the FPS genre that I’ll sign up for the open beta. If you want to do the same, all you have to do is follow the link here. Then, come find me once the game starts. My screen name is (big surprise) my name.

I signed up for it. If it’s a decent FPS, nobody stands a chance

I didn’t know about this, but it sounds awesome!
