Nothing says, “I’m a Geek!” like a video game wedding. We all cringe and beg “Please stop making all of us normal gamers look so cheesy and obsessed!” every time we hear about another couple getting hitched by Master Chief. Still, without regard, gaming obsessed couples tie the knot, controllers in hand, every year. If you’re not too queasy over the thought of marriage, take a peek at our list of best (or worst) video game weddings of all time.

Mr. and Mrs. Peng
Bernie Peng spent 26 months reprogramming the popular puzzle game Bejeweled to display a pink sapphire ring along with the message “Will You marry me?” when his girlfriend Tammy Li reached a certain high score. Thankfully for Bernie the hard work paid off when Tammy accepted his offer. The nerdiness doesn’t stop there though. Guests of the Peng wedding were treated with a cake in the shape of a Nintendo DS, jeweled decorations, and over 200 copies of Bejeweled as wedding favors.

Mr. and Mrs. Santis
This geeky couple bonded over their love for classic Nintendo games, so much that they decided to pay homage with pixelated wedding invitations. The cover of the card features the Groom asking his Bride to marry him in binary with her responding with a simple 011. On the inside guests are treated with a mock game screen that has Luis Santis up against his greatest foe, Magaly Ramirez in a battle to the… death? No of course not, in a battle over each others hearts.

MarioKart Cake
The names of the couple who ordered this cake for their wedding is unknown. According to the Groom’s Flicker page the idea of a video game inspired cake was completely his wife’s idea. Lucky for him, she has great taste. This 3 tiered mega cake features the entire Super Mario cast and is one of the most amazing pieces of video game art ever created. The attention to detail shows the exquisite craftsmanship of California based bakery Let Them Eat Cake.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry
When Halo’s online matchmaker put Desirai Labrada and John Henry into the same game together it did more than just pit 2 soldiers against each other, it made them lobby mates for life. The Florida wedding was geeked to the max with Halo 3 menu music playing as the bride walked down the isle and Master Chief himself reciting the sacred vows.

Mr. and Mrs. SAL9000
Who could forget the controversial marriage between DS gamer SAL9000 and his digital wife Nene Anegasaki. SAL9000 claims that he fell in love after spending countless hours interacting with Nene, a character from the DS dating sim Love Plus. SAL admits that he’s had failed relationships with girls from games in the past and that this time his love is real. The “couple” got married at the Tokyo Institute of Technology late last year. Soon after the ceremony the newly weds headed off to the Pacific Islands of Guam for their honeymoon.

Would you ever plan a video game wedding?
