Popcorn and the movies. Television without commercials. Yoo-Hoo and a glazed doughnut. Some things in life are just perfect for each other. Video games and music are one of those things. While gamers are unable to control the requirement to earn that last gold trophy/achievement, they are able to control what pumps through their speakers while doing so with custom in-game soundtracks. To help change-up that stale rotation of old-time favorites, the Wirebot bloggers will be providing a suggested playlist every Friday. Our recommendations this week include songs from: BOA, 2PM, MC Frontalot and a few others.
Yuliya’s pick: “Ain’t No Rest For the Wicked” by Cage the Elephant
Because: I loved this song when I first heard it on Borderlands. It’s so fitting for that game (and any other). Thanks, video games, for once again introducing me to awesome new music.
Jordan’s pick: “1958” by The Effort
Because: Earlier today I was trying to think of a reason as to why i dig this band so much. Maybe the combination of the groovy, yet heavy head banging that goes along with listening. It might be how the space between sound and silence gets your adrenaline pumping. But after thinking about it, I have come to the conclusion that this band is so good because they play all their instruments out of Bass heads. Even the drums.
Okay not the drums, but it sure feels like it.
Patrick’s pick: “Eyes on Me - Final Fantasy VIII Piano Collection”
Because: Yuliya’s submission last week reminded me of how much damn nostalgia I hold for FFVIII. Even if some call it one of the worst in the series (somewhat justified, honestly), it was the first FF I played, completed, and loved. Nobou Uematsu’s music is the best, and Eyes on Me is the theme that is repeated, modified, and played just repeatedly through FFVIII. In its pure piano form - it’s just sublime.
Bill’s pick: “Drugwolf” by Crime in Stereo
Because: Crime in Stereo is one of those bands that is constantly evolving and tweaking their sound to no one else’s standards except their own. “Drugwolf” is off their newest effort I Was trying To Describe You To Someone and makes is a perfect complement to any gaming session!
