Final Fantasy XIII is the first time we’ve gotten a look at Square’s HD game engine “Crystal Tools.” But already it seems that Square is ready to move on and push forward their technology into the next generation of gaming after the PS3 and Xbox 360. This news comes after a job listing looking for talented programmers to work on a “new generation game engine development project.”

Specifically Square-Enix are looking for “game engine system programmers, 3D graphics core programmers, online system programmers, Windows application programmers, rendering programmers, server/DB programmers, plug-in programmers, technical artists, and technical writers.” Applicants have to live around the Tokyo area where Square-Enix is headquartered.
