I hope never. That is my answer to the picture. Many people think the series is outdated, boring, and too linear for this day in age. They can go live in a hole with their action games for all I care. I say, keep em coming Square-Enix!

Last week marks the 13th installment of the famous console RPG series Final Fantasy. Now, many people, mostly non video game fans, like to be funny. “Why is it Final Fantasy if its the thirteenth one!?” Well, idiot, besides it being a just a title representing the epic struggles and ultimate consequences the characters in each game face(making it their “final fantasy”), it also has another meaning.

Back in the old days of the NES, Squaresoft was a dying development company. They needed a hit title to stay in the game, and because of that, they poured everything into a new project called “final fantasy.” This being their last chance, their absolute only opportunity to stay afloat, the name Final Fantasy fit well with their position. Obviously, the rest is history. Once a franchise starts, it isn’t so easy to get away from the original title and therefore, it stuck.

Flash forward to today. Square-Enix is now one of the big players in Japanese game development and publishing. Though Final Fantasy Thirteen is no where near their “final fantasy,” it still represents the struggle and epicness that permeates inside of them since the 80’s. So, ignorant fool, Final Fantasy will never stop, it will live through this generation and into the next, and the next, and the next..
