All I could think about this week was when my Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver versions were going to arrive. Well, the wait is over, because my Heart Gold package came in today! Soul Silver should be on its way, too. The two classic remakes officially released in the United States on Sunday, March 14th.

Playing through this game is like living a childhood dream. At the ripe age of ten, you begin your journey with a strange new Pokemon (Cyndaquil, Chikorita, or Totadile). Later down the road, you find yourself becoming attached to your new friend, and even though it’s just a digital creature, you can’t help but feel excited to turn on the game and greet him.

Heart Gold is essentially what the original Gold version was, except with a completely revamped graphics scheme. In addition, fun new features like the PokeWalker have been incorporated into the game so as to give you a more tangible attachment to your beloved Pokemon.

Right from the start, seasoned trainers should feel a sense of nostalgia as you begin traversing through the beautiful remodeling of New Bark Town. Battling, catching, and training are all exactly the same as previous installments. Experienced players should have no problem, while beginners will find that the play mechanics are extremely easy to pick-up on.

After having only played through for an hour or so, I can already say that I have fallen in love with Pokemon once again. I’ve already grown attached to my adorable little Cyndaquil, and I find myself turning around to “talk” to it almost every two minutes.

Stay tuned Wirebotters, because I’ll be providing daily updates in my “Trainer Journal” regarding my progress and thoughts on the game. If you have the game, too, then feel free to comment with your own thoughts!

I wish I could somehow take screen shots straight from the DS.

The gym thing sounds epic! I kind of want to see what they did compared to what it looked like before, now. O:
