I just wanted make a quick comment about the insane number of flashbacks Final Fantasy XIII has and wanted to ask if anyone else was feeling my pain? I am in absolute love with the storyline, but I can’t help but think it could have been told in more creative ways than the obscene amounts of flashbacks that appear every 20- 30 paces Lightening takes.

As a huge fan of the TV show Lost, I am sympathetic to backstories. In fact, Lost wouldn’t be the smash hit it is without them, but they are done in clever and unique ways. Nothing shocking or anything all too interesting occurs in the flashbacks in Final Fantasy XIII. They are more there to simply to fill in the blanks than anything else and I think this was a real missed opportunity to do something more intriguing.

I mean, did we really need a flashback of Hope and his mother in Bodham for us to understand that he misses his mom? Absolutely not.
