After a mishap at the lab and meeting my rival Ian, I left left home to begin my journey on the road to become a Pokemon Master. I signed the back of my trainer card (you can sign your trainer card using the DS stylus)and then was on my way! My first stop was Violet City!

On my way to Violet City, I found that the more frequently I turned around to “talk” to my Pokemon buddy, Cyndaquil, the more friendly he became (turning around and talking to the Pokemon following you shows how the Pokemon feels about you). I caught Hoothoot on the way, but he was a bit timid at first. Whenever I turned around to talk to him, he would just look down shyly at the ground (Pokemon need time to grow attached to you). After several battles, Hoothoot eventually gained my trust. When I arrived in Violet City, I promptly headed South to find some new Pokemon to add to my team. After catching a Bellsprout and Mareep, I headed over to a little house where I traded a second Bellsprout I caught for a boy’s Onix named Rocky.

After bonding with my Pokemon through battles in Sprout Tower, receiving the TM for the ability Flash (Flash is not longer an HM), and receiving the HM for Rock Smash (Rock Smash is now an HM), I was finally ready for my first gym battle! The gym was empty, save for a strange platform in the middle. When I stepped on the platform, I was taken by surprise as the platform lifted me up to the top of the gym where Faulkner, the bird Pokemon leader resided (a total revamp has been done on not only the exterior but also the interior of the buildings). His Pidgey was a pretty easy win, but the Pidgeotto he sent out next proved to be a formidable foe. I pulled through, though and got the Zephyr Badge, along with the TM for Roost (gym leaders have the same Pokemon, but give out different TMs)!

Next stop: AZALEA TOWN

I wish I could somehow take screen shots straight from the DS.

The gym thing sounds epic! I kind of want to see what they did compared to what it looked like before, now. O:
