I’ve had the new Pokemon Heart Gold version for about a week now, so I think I’ve had ample time to gather my thoughts on the game and give one final stab at telling you guys what it’s really about.
I can’t really say that I’m disappointed… at all… at anything. Pokemon is Pokemon, and it will always be that way. The game play is classic and doesn’t get old. It’s been over a decade since I started playing Pokemon, and I’m still not bored of it. I think that, in itself, shows that Game Freak and Nintendo really have something great under their hands.
Aside from the age-old concept of becoming a Pokemon master, the new games also offer some additional features that keep the series interesting. The Pokewalker, just to name one, is an ingenious new feature that takes some of the pain out of grinding and allows for more variety in early party formation.
So here’s the bottom line: If you still love Pokemon, then you’ll love these games. It’s as simple as that.
