When this game was announced a few months ago, many people were speculating on whether or not it was a just a quick 1.5 kind of release or a full blown sequel. Since the games release is only a month away, so much information has been released to the press, and the funny part is that it just keeps on coming!

With his hands on, Joystiq writer Randy Nelson experienced more new stuff packed into Mario Galaxy 2. Specifically, he got a chance to check out the cloud power up and the two player co-op mode and had nothing but good things to say.

There are still a couple more neat surprises in store from Super Mario Galaxy 2, but, based on what I’ve already played, there’s no question that this is a far cry from a “Super Mario Galaxy 1.5.” It’s a full-blown sequel packed with new challenges and gameplay mechanics that have managed to put a smile on my face every time.

You can read the preview and watch the gameplay trailer over at Joystiq. I am really excited to get my hands on a new Mario game, and though I don’t think I will ever touch the coop mode, it is still nice to hear Nintendo is really trying to revamp their new Galaxy.
