Alright, I’m going to get right down to the dirty; Invasion is way too big to be bogged down by extras, and I’m a little winded after my play through today, but it was totally worth my time. Should you find yourself in this game type, I hope that this advice and the details get you through safely and with a victory.

The basic premise of the Invasion and Invasion Slayer is Spartans Vs. Elites; the differences between the two are clear at this point; height, strength and weapon sets. If you’re playing on regular Invasion you have one clear objective on either side; Spartans defend, and Elites are on the offense. As the game begins you can either do one of two things as a Spartan, defend the first objective for 4 minutes against 6 elites with your 5 other teammates and try for a shut-out, or you can fail and be forced to play for another 4 minutes to defend the next set of objectives, but on both sides as the respective teams progress, stronger weapons and vehicles become available, turning up the heat on the fight. If you should fail as a spartan to defend the second set of objectives get ready for the fight of your life; you’ve got 4 minutes to either defend the Data Core if you’re a Spartan, or if you’re playing the invaders, you’ve got 4 minutes to take the Data Core to the drop ship you rode in on. Team work is so crucial to either side, it requires you to be constantly communicating and calling out the enemies location, it makes Team Slayer look like babies first gun fight; once you start you won’t want to start.

Invasion Slayer is big team battle, on top of this fact, there are way points that appear at various locations throughout the map that can bring you lots of goodies in the form of weapons or vehicle drops, these drops are chosen at random. Simply stated, this is Big Team Battle on crack; these games are strenuous and are so chaotic, I actually found myself having a full blown panic attack. Again, communication is so important, constantly speak and you’ll find yourself making sense of the calamity.

Boneyard is massive, and the weapons spawn in set locations only in the regular Invasion game type, so my advice as to weapon locales is moot, just remember this; on Phase 3 when you’re defending as a spartan, the tool shed and the docking bay are going to be your favorite location, as well as the docking bay. I’ll be detailing the map and a few tactics in the next blog post, because as I stated previously; this one is a beast.

It is indeed a beast. One key thing is your team-mate. In invasion you are paired up with another player. Which allows you multiple spawning points. You can either spawn in the default location, which seems like a mile away from the action, or you can spawn next to your team-mate. You can only spawn next to them if they are in a safe spot. Like Dave said, communication is key to victory.
