Rockstar Games has a history of shoddy PS3 versions of their games. It seems like the trend that began with Grand Theft Auto IV has now made its way to Red Dead Redemption through sub-HD graphics. That’s right, you read it correctly, the PS3 version of RDR only runs at 640p.

The news broke yesterday when gaming blog CVG reported that the Xbox 360 version of Read Dead Redemption runs at “720p with 2x anti-aliasing,” while the PS3 version runs at a “20% lower rendering resolution.” The same controversy was sparked after the release of Grand Theft Auto IV when it was found to run at sub-HD levels on the PS3 as well.

We are all smart enough to know that graphics do not make the game, but for me this is a matter of getting what I paid for. When I hand over my hard earned cash I expect to get the same quality experience as every other gamer making the purchases. Why should PS3 users $60 buy an inferior product?

It is also important to realize that this is not a fluke incident with Rockstar Games. They have a history of poor PS3 development that needs to be rectified in order to uphold their status as quality developers in the gaming community.
