Seems like Sony got sued four times during the past month…for the same exact reason: removing the “Other OS” feature from the PS3. Ouch, that’s harsh.

Sony apparently got rid of the feature on April 1 in an optional firmware update. Technically, this means PS3 owners could just abstain from upgrading their system. The downside? They would be unable to use basic system functions, like signing on the PlayStation Network.

The latest suit, filed on May 6 by Keith Wright, claims that Sony was forcing PS3 owners to choose between two features that had been advertised and looks to obtain restitution, such as compensation for the price of the PlayStation 3, injunction relief, and other damages. This lawsuit covers anyone who bought a PS3 between November 17, 2006 through March 27, 2010 and still has it.

Looks like Sony just made a really bad decision. I hope the issue gets resolved and that both parties can be satisfied! …Maybe Sony can just announce it as a belated April Fools joke. It was announced on April 1, wasn’t it?
