Up until now, if you were looking to play a nice round of tennis on your iPad, you were out of luck. Eurocentric changes that with its iPad release of Ace Tennis 2010 Online, featuring HD graphics, tournaments, various court types, and online multiplayer.
If you are familiar with the iPhone version of Ace Tennis then you should feel right at home with the iPad version. The only real difference is having the ability to play with enhanced graphics, which in my opinion is worth the upgrade, Apple’s 2X pixel doubling technology isn’t all it’s chalked up to be.
Ace Tennis 2010 Online sports a single player campaign that drops you into a tournament. You must advance through the brackets by winning matches in order to take home the gold. To freshen up the monotony a bit, you can choose between 3 different course types (grass, sand, and indoors). From the looks of the video, it doesn’t appear that the ball controls any different on sand than indoors which could have kept the gameplay fresh by constantly having to adapt your strategy, a missed opportunity in my book.
The fun won’t be had playing against AI opponents though. You’ll have to venture online and compete against real live people in the online multiplayer portion of the game to have any real fun.
Ace Tennis 2010 Online could benefit greatly from a few tweaks here and there, but overall looks worth the $4.99 price tag.
