Now might be the time to stop holding your breath for a Final Fantasy VII remake. Yoshinori Kitase, the director behind Final Fantasy VII has stated that a HD reboot would take 10 times longer to produce than Final Fantasy XIII.

Some quick math reveals that Kitase believes it would take roughly 30- 40 years to produce Final Fantasy VII with standards equivalent to Final Fantasy XIII. We’re unsure of how Kitase came to this conclusion and there is no way to verify it would take this long, but he would be the guy who would know such a thing.

Final Fantasy VII is considered by many to be the best RPG of all time. The question is, are you willing to wait half a century to play it in HD?
