IGN is claiming to have insider information from several developers claiming that Nintendo’s next portable gaming device, the 3DS, will boast HD graphics similar to current generation consoles.

IGN’s Craig Harris had this to say about the Nintendo 3DS,

“Several developers that have experienced 3DS in its current form have reported, off the record, that it has processing capabilities that far exceed the Nintendo Wii and bring the device with abilities that are close to HD consoles such as PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.”

Graphics have always been an area where Nintendo has lagged behind in. Maybe this is the year that they show us all that they can compete with the big boys in the HD arena. On another note, if these claims are true, Sony would most definitely have to show off their rumored PSP2 as a retort.

If they get graphics compared to the PS3 and 360 I would truly be shocked and happy at the same time:)
