In an interview with Gamesutra, Square-Enix, admits that fan reaction to Final Fantasy XIII was a mixed bag and that a series overhaul may be in the works.
Square Enix has always changed things up for the latest and greatest Final Fantasy installments, but they’ve only been slight tweaks here and there. Sometimes the way a character progresses and learns abilities are played around with, while other times the art style and linearity of the game gets adjusted. The core RPG concepts haven’t changed much though since the very first time we entered a dungeon in the original Final Fantasy.
Square-Enix’s head honcho, Yoichi Wada, has hit a bit of a cross roads with the series as of lately. It seems he just doesn’t know where to take the series from here. Should he develop a “new type of game” or “not?” He continues with, “The customers have different opinions. It’s very difficult to determine which way it should go.”
There is your cue Final Fantasy fans, let Square’s man in charge hear what direction you think the series should head in. If enough people speak up, maybe he’ll listen.

I don’t play Final Fantasy, so I don’t know anything about it, but the creator of the game should listen to the opinions of fans~ ^^

I agree! I think going back to a “kings and queens” era would be awesome!
I’ve never played FF on the Play Station, but I’ve seen enough videos that have made me fall in love with the series. I personally like FF6 which was on the GBA mostly because it was girl that was the main but it would be nice if they could go back to the old type of RPG’s with the king and stuff, not so much the whole futuristic thing.

oh cool - i’m sure all the hardcore FF fans will love to give input ^^
pretty awesome that Yoichi is open to take in the fan opinions since FF has been around for so long
that new takes on it based on what the fans want might be good
