If you haven’t already experienced the magic of Hemisphere Games’ Osmos on PC, Mac, and most recently iPad, now is the time to join in on the most fun you can have on the cellular level with Osmos on your iPhone.

Review Guide

Osmos has you doing exactly as it’s name implies, absorbing cells through osmosis. In this game you will tap your way across relaxing seas of plasma in order to collect cells smaller than you so that you can become the largest multi-celled organism on the map. You’ll want to be very cautious where you send your little cell though, as each lunge forward jettisons tiny cells out your back side reducing your size and the cells you’ll be able to absorb.

If you want to get anywhere in Osmos you’re first going to have to relax a bit. Why relax? Simple, the more rapidly you tap, the smaller your cell becomes, so patience is key.

But it’s not all about relaxation, it’s also about making minute movements in order to maneuver your way around non-absorbable cells, repulsers, and other infectious hazards wanting to do harm to your cell. Become a master of patience and meticulousness and you’ll soon be the biggest fish in the pond or cell in plasmid in this case.

Since the release of Osmos on the PC last August it has won countless “best of” and “editor’s choice” awards, something I have not fully agreed with until now. It’s a simple and elegant game, but can also be incredibly frustrating at times.

It wasn’t until now with the release of Osmos on the iPhone that the game has reached its potential. Using a mouse to control your cell on the PC version lacked the tactile experience I felt the game begged for. Something that I felt the iPad version delivered quite well, but it didn’t use the iPad massive screen size to its full advantage.

It wasn’t until now with the release of Osmos on the iPhone that it feels just right. The graphics look better than they ever have on the iPhone 4 retina display. The controls feel the most comfortable when held on a smaller screen. And the pick up and play aspect of the game is best when on a portable device like the iPhone.

Pick up Osmos for the iPhone and you’ll be swimming your way through 70 intense levels with more than 5 different game modes on the best platform the game is offered on. Nothing has changed, it’s still exactly the same levels you’ve played through before, but the experience is different, better.

Osmos is currently available on the iPhone for $2.99, iPad for $4.99, and $9.99 on PC and Mac. Here to purchase Osmos!
