If you were waiting on pins and needles for an upcoming Square Enix game, thank Tetsuya Nomura, the studio’s designer, for providing the public with more than a few status updates for their projects in progress via the ever useful Twitter.
Since the tweets were from his 3rd Birthday on Twitter, it makes sense that the most updates pertain to the spin-off of Square’s Parasite Eve series, but Nomura didn’t neglect any of his projects, and even mentioned things about several unannounced projects, some of which have even completed voice recording. In fact, these projects are planned for release before Final Fantasy Agito XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII and will be announced in Japan. But enough about these mysterious mystery projects, let’s take a look at the updates for the announced games that we’re all waiting for to hit the market!
3rd Birthday
-Two ROMs are currently in development: a beta ROM for Square’s personal use and a demo ROM to introduce the game to the press at GamesCom.
-Twitter icons will be offered on 3rd Birthday’s official site after an upcoming update.
-Voice recording is nearly done!
-The game is almost done! Nomura stated: “”Regarding The 3rd Birthday, as Taba-chan wrote here, production is about to enter the final stage. Starting this month, we should release constant information in magazines and the likes, so look forward to it.” (Taba-chan is a cute name for Hajime Tabata, the game’s director!)
-Old update, but you’ll be able to take closer looks at the games characters if you snag some…Japanese magazine. (I’m not sure which one, sorry! Gotta snag ‘em all!)
Final Fantasy Versus XIII
-Nomura reported problems with production, but affirms that there will be announcements…soon: “Versus has had many difficulties, and past method of production have been completely inapplicable, but these are the difficulties of birth, so we are working hard. We have a lot to announce, but because we’re going in order, I can’t say too much yet.” (Order=order of game release.)
-Regarding the fields in Versus, Nomura stated: “”There have been many questions regarding fields. It’s not a completely open world. It’s like the 2D FF games in HD. Although, in terms of looks, it’s not a top-down view, it’s like the screenshots that have been released. You’ll move through the world from that view.”
-Voice casting is ending soon! Wonder who they’re going to choose…
Final Fantasy Agito XIII
-As with its other Final Fantasy XIII counterpart, voice casting also happens to be ending soon for Agito!
Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded
-Production is finished–only the easy peasy stuff is left! Huzzah! Said Nomura: “KH Re:Coded, which is set for release on 10/7, is almost complete as far as development goes. We’re currently working on the packaging and promotions. The approach has changed a bit this time to light taste.”
Gamescon
-Agito and Versus, the two Final Fantasy XIII titles, will unfortunately not make an appearance. Square’s going to be represented by its very own 3rd Birthday and Kingdom Hearts.
Whew, lots of updates. Which game are you most excited for?
