The majority of Mafia II trophies are easily obtained. With a little effort you’ll be able to obtain a platinum trophy or all achievement points in one play through. Follow our tips and you’ll conquer every challenge Empire City has to offer.
First Things First
You get one trophy for completing Mafia II on normal difficulty and another for getting through it on hard. Take out both with one shot and set your difficulty to hard from the start. This isn’t Ninja Gaiden, the developers aren’t out to kill you by making the game insanely difficult to play. The hard difficulty is very manageable, even new players shouldn’t have a problem tackling it.
Reading Rainbow
At the start of each chapter read over the trophy list to see if there are any specific to the one you’re on. You would think this one was a no brainer, but even I missed a few trophy opportunities because I didn’t the list and know their was an opportunities.
Plan, Fail, Try Again
Each chapter specific trophy can only be obtained during that chapter, so plan accordingly. Each challenge presents its own unique challenges that you’ll have to go through trial and error before finding the perfect strategy. Don’t get discouraged, just keep trying. Most challenges require that you plan out a path that makes sense for your situation. Other challenges are simple, like helping out someone in the game, just make sure you don’t skip over them.
Stick With A Car
You’ll want to check out and drive 30 cars to unlock a trophy, but while you’re doing so make sure you stick with one long enough to max out its upgrades and score a trophy. This can be costly, so my advice is to stick with the very first car that you and Joe steal together until it is maxed out before moving on to other rides.
Scavenger
Collecting all 50 Playboy magazines may seem like a difficult challenge at first, but due to the linear story telling of Mafia II it isn’t as hard as it appears. The easiest way to go about this trophy is to thoroughly investigate each area the game puts you in. You shouldn’t have to go running all over Empire City to find a mag. They will come naturally as you progress, you just have to keep an eye out and be willing to check out each and every corridor in the buildings you visit.
Tester
The rest of Mafia II trophies require you to test out everything the game has to offer. As you progress through the game you’ll naturally unlock a bunch of these by robbing stores, driving around town, and getting into fist fights. They are straight forward and easy to achieve without any extra help.
Follow these simple tips and you’ll have every last trophy/ achievement the game has to offer in no time. If you haven’t be able to platinum any game yet and want to, you may want to give Mafia II a try.
