Although we know there is a PSP2 in the making, its interface and functions are completely unknown. A lot of users submit their own images of what the PSP2 could look like (the screenshot is such an example), but still no official word from Sony. But according to Playstation LifeStyle, the PSP2 might have not one, but two touch interfaces– a new approach to touch-screen devices.

Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) (Sony’s PlayStation Division) has filed several patents for touch screen interfaces for some future product (speculated to be the PSP2). Shown in the images below, the device features two screens, one to view content in the front, and another to control the content from the back.

In addition, here are some pictures revealing a possible physical setup and how the screens may be arranged.

Recently, Kotaku speculated about a trackpad, and VG247 released pictures of a PSP2 featuring a back panel (supposedly, but if Sony is still patenting a touch screen for it, then those pictures may be a fake). Otherwise, this patent for a touchscreen is nothing more than what it looks like. Whether it is for the PSP2 or not, is completely unknown. But if it is for the PSP2, can you imagine having an ebook, touch-screen, web-surfing functions, along with your favourite games all in one?
