It may have been a great launch for the Kinect worldwide, but in Japan, there has been a colder reception waiting for it. You see, Microsoft have only shifted 26,000 single and bundle consoles in Japan according to Media Create.

Kinect has gotten off to a “quiet start” in the Land of the Rising Sun, and that’s not the only disappointing thing for Microsoft. Whereas four PlayStation Move games made it onto the Top 20 software sales chart of Media Create in the first week of Move’s release (totalling 50,000 sales), no Kinect games managed to pull this off.

Perhaps it’s the fact that this data comes from only two days worth of information and the Xbox 360 has a lower install base at hand, but one thing for sure is that Microsoft need to start thinking of ways to entice the Japanese towards their Kinect.
