News has just erupted that the Sony PSP has become the best-selling console of any type in Japan. The Nintendo DS in second place, with 2,729,718 units showed an increase of 604,199 compared to the previous year.
The Nintendo Wii follows behind the DS in 3rd place, with the Playstation 3 afterwards. Xbox 360 and Playstation 2 are the last of all. As you can see, it seems that the handheld consoles dominated the sales this year. Here’s a list of the number of units sold of each console, with the difference between 2009 totals in brackets:
