Lights, camera…Movie Rush! HD. Movie Rush! HD is a simple time management game based on the theater going experience, namely the concession stands. You play a concession stand worker who’s goal is to serve movie-goers their theater snacks.

Review Guide

The user-interface for Movie Rush! HD is slightly different compared to most time management games that require you whisking your player from station to station. Instead, you work off of one stationery concession stand with the theater snacks set in front of you to put together on a tray. With this type of interface, this time management game isn’t so much about chaining actions for speed bonuses but about rhythm.

For the unseasoned time management game player, Movie Rush! HD is otherwise extremely difficult if the particular rhythm isn’t discovered. I was most successful in immediately refilling my beverage cups and having a pretzel already on the tray in the beginning levels. Before I’d discovered that that was the trick, it was nearly impossible to achieve a level and move on.

Another roadblock in advancing through the game was the user interface. Since there’s a lot of snack objects in front of you that have to be dragged onto a tray, it’s really easy to pick up the wrong item. Sometimes, you’ll drag a tray over your customer only to have the tray snap back into it’s former position in the middle of the screen, causing your customer to leave. This occurred for me a lot. I think one improvement that could fix this, is to only employ tapping instead of dragging.

Sound and graphics are decent — I found the customer characters to be really cute. Overall, I feel like this game could be a decent one if only the user interface was fixed to guarantee smooth gameplay.
