Reminiscent of Toy Story, Trouble in Tin Town is a turn-based strategy game in which long forgotten wind-up toys are rediscovered in an attic and brought to life by the kids who found the wind-up toys. Being brought back to life doesn’t spell out good times for wind- up toys. Instead, its only rekindled old negative flames and made wind-up toy factions (yes they have factions) more apparent.

Review Guide

In Trouble in Tin Town, you can choose from three different factions to play; The Historicals, Kandy Kingdom and Best Forgotten Island — each with their own campaign mode and hilarious storyline. Gameplay is simple and straight forward and completely touch-based. Touch where you want your unit to move and what you want your unit to attack. Each successful attack will scatter coins which you collect to upgrade your units. In addition to attacks, treasure boxes spread through each map will also give you coins — that is, if you don’t let anyone else get to them first. At times you have the game’s own map features aiding you in battle, be it trains that run over troops or canons.

Aside from the simple gameplay, the most enjoyable things of the game was the funny dialogue, graphics and sound. The least enjoyable, yet tolerable things about the game was that it got pretty buggy towards the end in some campaigns. Towards the end of some campaigns, it was impossible to complete a battle due to an issue with scripting. Once enemies were killed off and the last base was taken over, nothing really progressed to an actual end. Instead you’re forced to manually move on to the next level by yourself, losing out on bonus benefits. These issues though, are optimistically solved with an update.

Overall, a very fun game that’s easily recommendable for anyone who’s a fan of strategy and/or turn-based games!
