The Last Temple is a match three or more game - which basically means you have to connect gems of the same color in order to clear them and then advance to the next levels. And of course, they take place in a temple as the name suggests.

Review Guide

True, the idea isn’t very original - there have been many games made before with the same motive. But it still is a really good game in general. It’s pretty addicting and it had me hooked when I first started playing. The controls are simple. You have to connect gems of the same color as long as they are adjacent to each other. The longer the chain, the more points you can get. And you’re also working under a time limit - at the end of each game, the gems turn into red rubies that start falling down the screen. Your goal here is the catch as many of them as possible to unlock the 72 Challenge levels. Not that I’ve unlocked them yet, but it’s pretty nice knowing that even after beating the game, you’ll have more levels / games to play. It is a really good time passer I have to say.

And of course, as you advance, there are certain blocks that turned into difference spells. For example, you can have some blocks that explode all the other blocks around it, or some that turn adjacent blocks a different color. Either way, some of the spells are really helpful and some, not so much. Or maybe I just don’t notice what happens at times.

Which then brings me to some of the things I had a problem with. True, levels get more and more challenging as you get further. But because the motive is still the same for each of them, it can get boring really quickly. Which is why I can only play this game when I’m waiting for something, the train or a person. I can’t really stay too long in this game. Though it’s never boring when I first start playing. Just as I continue, I start getting a little bored. Other than that, as I said before, it’s a really really good time passer! The fact that you’re racing against a clock makes it more meaningful or purposeful.

Even though the concept isn’t as original as I hoped it would be, it was a really fun game to play! Just the fact that every level is kind of the same makes it a little boring. But when you have a game like this, that’s sort of inevitable. But the graphics are good, and the visuals are really clear. And again, the time limit makes it really exciting while you’re playing. So I really recommend it! Good game to have on your iPod / iPhone.
