Activision/Blizzard announce it is dropping the Guitar Hero game for 2011. Angry Birds has migrated to many different consoles, but I’d never thought I’d see the day when you could play the game in real life…on a cake. Youtube user electricpigtv (or Mike) has a family tradition of making “increasingly ridiculous birthday cakes for [his] kids each year.” This year, he’s chosen to bang out–you’ve guessed it–an Angry Birds cake for his adorable 6-year-old son, Ben. Many gamers have been anticipating the release of the PC version of People Can Fly’s over-the-top shooter Bulletstorm. However, the anticipation will have to continue for a while longer. The demo will not be released before the game’s launch today. It has been revealed over Twitter by Epic Games’ Mark Rein that the PC demo “won’t make it in time for ship date but should be available shortly after.” It looks like gamers will have to find something else to play in the meantime while waiting for the release. Finally, we have the full launch details for the Nintendo 3DS handheld in North America. Face Raider and AR games will be pre-installed on the hardware, with three first-party games – Pilotwings Resort, Steel Divers, and nintendogs + cats to follow too. These first-party games will all be at a price of around $39.99 On March 27th, thirteen third-party games will be made available for purchase. Final Fantasy games will be released on Playstation Network. Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II was available on the Playstation Network Store on February 16 and will soon be available March 2nd. Buyers of Dissidia 012:Final Fantasy will received a vouchers that entitles the user up to 50 percent off Final Fantasy from the Playstation Network Store. There have been several indications recently of how Youtube are seeking to expand its video content distribution onto game consoles. On the PS3 and Wii web browser, Youtube is already available through a special designed site. However, a job post for a Youtube software engineer says that Youtube are looking for an engineer to “build the next generation game console based TV experience with Youtube video content,” and “integrate and optimise with distribution channels and devices including all major game platforms”. Diablo 3 console rumors have been building up as Blizzard has recently posted a job listing for a “Senior Producer, Console Diablo 3.” The post has lead to many rumors that Diablo 3 will be released for the consoles. Although the job description asks for someone with ” prior experience in console game development,” Blizzard claimed that “this is not an announcement of a console title.” In addition, Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime recently stated, “I think you could make an argument that a game like Diablo might play very well on a console. It’s something that we’re actually doing an investigation into to see if that could make sense.” However, many believe that they’re doing more than “investigating.” More »

Grand Theft Auto owners Take-Two are being tracked by Activision at the moment. A senior games executive told MCV that “There are very strong rumours amongst people at a very senior level within the global business. But there’re not much more than that at the moment - they are just rumours. And, of course, given Activision’s news this week, everyone is now looking to see what their next move is.
