Earlier this month, The Pokemon Company International announced that you would get to play the Pokemon Trading Card Game online against other real players in a game called ‘Pokemon TCG Online.’ It has now become official and the beta version is indeed live now. To play, you just need to create a free Pokemon Trainer Club account. To do that, visit this link. Once you have made an account, you can access the TCG game located here at the games official website.

The games description according to the beta version is this: “Be among the first Pokémon fans to try the Pokémon Trainer Challenge, a new online way to play the Pokémon Trading Card Game! Get ready to compete against all 14 computer opponents in three Leagues using three theme decks. As you play, you’ll earn achievements for doing well and progressing through the Leagues. Plus, you can customize your personal in-game avatar, and then save an image of it to your desktop so you can use it anywhere! In addition, the new Pokémon Trading Card Game forums are now open: come in to discuss strategies, share ideas, and talk about all things Pokémon TCG with other fans!”

The games rules will be following the new rules implemented in Pokemon Black & White during their release which is April 25. Cheating isn’t possible in this online version, unlike in the physical version. As of right now, you can only play against computers but coming this fall, you will be able to face real opponents.

I have actually joined the site because I was a Pokemon player as a kid so I think it will be fun. While looking at the game, the graphic quality of the actual characters is ok or decent at best but the cards are really spot on to the real decks. I am anticipating to see what improvements will be made in time considering it is still in it’s beta testing stage.
