And you thought you had it tough. Think again - the promoter in charge of Microsoft’s Kinect launch event in Time Squares last fall is now suing Microsoft for fines issued by the city’s police.
Now you may be wondering why the promoter was fined and why Microsoft owes him $63,000. Well, it turns out that apparently, a full-scale concert for renowned singer Ne-Yo was planned without the promoter’s knowledge and it didn’t have the proper permits for the concert to be held. Oops.
Of course, the fans waiting to buy the first ever Kinects went a little crazy (as expected when people see celebrities) when they saw Ne-Yo and the police struggled to keep everything under control. So when the police threatened to shut down the entire event, the promoter P.R.omotion! was able to convince the police to let the event go on if the agency paid $45,000 in fines.
Well, P.R.omotion! wants its money back, including legal fees and every other cost absorbed. The owner, Tom Hennigan, claims that this is the first time he’s had to do this for any of his clients.
Microsoft has not commented on this matter.
