Research firm Parks Associates claim that $15 billion will be the worth of the rapidly developing social gaming market. In a new report called Social Gaming: Market Update, they stake that claim. And the firm wrote “Gaming on social networks has quickly become the most visible category of online games.”
It continued “Right now more than 250 million people play games like Zynga’s CityVille and FarmVille on Facebook every month, and both game developers and marketers have taken notice. Big brands such as McDonald’s and 7-Eleven have carried out cross-promotions with existing social games.”
Parks suggests that further monetising of their games await social game developers, as a lot of data can be mined from player activity. They said “The most powerful asset of social game developers is the quantity of behavioural data that they can obtain from their games.”
That’s a whopping fivefold increase in social gaming’s value! How do you think this will affect you?
