Everyone knows about Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter. How could you not? However, there was fierce debate (or endless curiosity) about which game was the earliest successful console fighting game. Look no further, as, in conjunction to the newest game in the series, Guinness World Records has announced which records Mortal Kombat owns:

  • Longest-serving videogame voice actor: Since its inception in the world in 1991, Ed Boon has voiced character Scorpion in every Mortal Kombat released. Wow!
  • Most numbered entries in a fighting game series: To date, there are 8 released installments, with the 9th to come out this year. Its rival, Street Fighter, only has 4 to its name.
  • Earliest video game poster to be censored: Not sure if this is a compliment, but Britain’s Advertising Standard’s Authority took the liberty of lambasting the poster for Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, calling it “irresponsible” and “condoned violence”. The poster was later pulled.

    Mortal Kombat is one of my favorite games! Street Fighters and Mortal Kombat are pretty old games, but they are addicting!


    Yay! Congrats to Mortal Kombat! Hehehe~ I love this game! I find it pretty entertaining, it’s a pretty original K.O-Action game, I guess~
    Must’ve been a really close battle between Street Fighters and Mortal Kombat!!
