A new report informs us that the successor to the Xbox 360, nicknamed (for now) the Xbox 720, has a high chance to debut at next year’s E3 gaming convention. There’s also word that Timesplitters 4 is a title in development for the new console.

A “high ranking” source from developer Crytek informs VideoGamer of this information with not much details besides that. Though they did mention that the Crysis studio has been using DirectX 11 in their development.

Oh course, with any rumor, we can’t take just their word for it (seeing as how Microsoft and Crytek denied any comments on this rumor). But it seems likely, considering its been 6 years since the 360 debuted and how their competition might be starting work on their next console version, notably the Wii U that was already announced.

What are you guys expecting for the “Xbox 720″?
