“Theatrhythm” is said to be Square Enix’s attempt to put its spin on a rhythm game, alongside an interesting merge with their well-known Final Fantasy series.

Shonen Jump tells us that Theatrhythm Final Fantasy will have gamers exploring unknown dungeons and towns, fighting vicious monsters, sort of the same ordeal you’d expect from any FF game. But the twist is that you’ll be doing all of that by tapping your stylus to the beat…correctly at that.

Two early screenshots have been revealed that show off the title, as well as fuzzy (but cutely chibi) looks at Cloud, Lightning, an Onion Knight, and the Warrior of Light:
Looks pretty interesting and it seems like Square Enix has continued the trend of really strange-sounding names (previously released: Dissidia 012: Duodecim) but at least the game seems really fun for a casual time.
