Due to a character likeliness within the game, Band Hero, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine is suing Activision over the use.
Previously, Levine and Activision had an agreement that he would be involved to appear in the game, but only as a sing along aid to Maroon 5’s “She Will Be Loved” track that is included.
However, the game’s Levine-esque character can also be used to sing songs that “would not have been chosen by him for recordings or performances,” which is where he was unaware and has claimed breach of contract because of it.
Besides being used to sing other songs, players also have the option to switch Levine’s voice for a female one, which greatly changes the vocals that he is known for.
Specific damages are still unspecified but Levine will be suing for “fraudulent inducement, breach of contract, violation of the common-law right of publicity and unfair business acts or practices.”
I can see where he’s coming from, since it doesn’t seem like he was made aware just how they were going to use his agreement to appear in the game. I’m sure that for a singer, it’s very specific to their image to be represented in a way that is true to who they are. Rather than be slightly exploited and used as if they were a joke.
Do you think Levine is in the right or wrong?

I think he’s in the right, since there were additions in the game that wasn’t included in what they talked about.
