This past weekend in San Diego, California was an exciting one for Pokémon fans as thousands gathered to watch the showdown at the 2011 Pokémon World Championships. The event brought in 400 players from over 27 countries who all came to participate in the professional Pokémon Black and White battling for the chance to be deemed as the best Pokémon trainers.
J.C. Smith, director of Consumer Marketing for The Pokémon Company International, said regarding the event, “The Pokémon World Championships is more than a tournament; it’s a global event for our entire community to compete, have fun, and create lifelong friendships.”
He added, “It’s been an incredible weekend, and we couldn’t be happier to congratulate this year’s World Champions for their dedication, their unbelievable talent, and most importantly, their sportsmanship during the entire Play! Pokémon season.”
Below are the six competitors who proved themselves to be the best Pokemon trainers along with their victorious Pokémon teams.
Brian Hough: Meinshao, Terrakion, Hydreigon, Musharon, Amoongus and Thundurus.
Ian McLaughlin: Whimsicott, Terrakion, Chandelure, Zoroark, Amoongus, Jellicent
Kamran Jahadi: Jellicent, Chandelure, Amungus, Terakron, Thundurus and Tornadus.
Sejun Park: Amoongus Thundurus, Tornadus, Chandelure, Scrafty, Conkeldurr
Ray Rizzo: Gothitelle, Hydreigon, Thundurus, Escavelier, Terrakion, Conkeldurr
Matteo Gini: Thundurus, Tornadus, Eelektross, Scrafty, Haxorus and Krokodile.
