To all the games out there, ever heard of Atari? If you have what is their logo? The watered-down ghost (or as I like to call it, the octopus thing that people have in their bento) is it? Well apparently not.

As you all know, even though the company didn’t make the game, they did more than that for gamers. In the 1970s, the company did a lot to make the game it is as popular as it is today. So the logo will definitely will be somewhere deep down in each gamers heart. It’s like a message from the past, reminding us how smart it is to still be a famous brand even though it’s now French owned.

The logo was designed by George Opperman, the first in-house graphic designer Atari had. The logo he designed was a combination of two things. The ‘A’ in Atari and Mt. Fuji. Another inspiration was Atari’s first hit game, Pong which led to the three prongs.

How does it represent the game you ask? Well the lines on either side are the players and the one in the middle is the line that runs down the Pong “court”.

When the company split in 1984, the long passed through many sets of hands, including Hasbro, and the only thing in common with the original Atari is the name and the logo.

Mr Opperman passed away in 1985, shortly after the split.
