While still resolving the issue on Australia’s classification system is still under its way, yesterday’s refusal to release Syndicate was just about it. EA Australia said that they will bot be appealing for the decision after Syndicate’s banning. They said that they might make changes to make the game passable with the requirements. However, EA still said that they will release Syndicate with an adults-only rating on February 24 in New Zealand, unedited.

EA Australia released this statement:
“It’s regrettable that government policy in Australia is denying adults the right to play Syndicate. The game will be not be available in Australia, despite its enthusiastic response from fans. We were encouraged by the government’s recent agreement to adopt an 18+ age rating for games. However, delays continue to force an arcane censorship on games–cuts that would never be imposed on books or movies. We urge policy makers to take swift action to implement an updated policy that reflects today’s market and gives its millions of adult consumers the right to make their own content choices.”

It is sad to think that the Australian Classification Board are so strict that they have banned millions of game and even deprive those anticipated game to fans living in Australia. I think they should still release the game in Australia because they have a good idea of putting on an 18 rating. The government should just allow the game because there is an adults-only rating.

Gosh hope the issue gets resolved. Australia is really tight on what games can be released. Interesting that EA will still release it.
