Unofficial figures claim that just 72,479 units of the PS Vita from Sony were sold in the week leading up to Christmas. That is apparently a decrease from the 324,859 sold in the first week of sales when it was released.

This has not yet been commented on by Sony. However, just imagine how much of a turnaround that would have felt like for all associated with Sony. Perhaps one of the primary reasons of the decrease is because the price of the Vita is too high right now.

Looking at the Nintendo 3DS, it took a drastic early price cut to improve sales. So the PS Vita may have to go through the same process, quite frankly, to gain back the publicity of all prospective PS Vita buyers in Japan.
