Last month in Japan, the Nintendo 3DS beat records for the most hardware units sold in a single month. Enterbrain, a Japanese sales tracking firm, has revealed this statistic, with 1,492,931 units sold between November 28th and December 25th.

So that’s the highest hardware sales record yet. Also, this means that the 3DS has been on top of the Japanese hardware charts for seventh months by now. In behind the 3DS was the Sony PlayStation Vita, with 402,794 units sold.

2011 was also a year in which the 3DS sold the most of all consoles. In terms of games, Mario Kart 7 was the best selling in the annual software sales charts. So over all, it was a milestone achievement, and a great year for all at Nintendo.
